2020, will go down in history as a time when we all had the opportunity to stop, breathe and reflect on many important aspects of our lives.

With many workers working remotely as well as gyms, restaurants, and schools closed, many of us were forced to rethink how we worked, socialised, relaxed, exercised, and traveled. The basic social and daily routines became a challenge, especially to families that had to prepare themselves to work from home as well as prepare their children for online learning.

It soon became clear that online teaching was fun for the children, but the immersive atmosphere and interactive engagement with other kids were missing as well as learning within an environment with context.

Di and I watched the benefits and struggles appear and we thought about how can we remedy the pain points and expand on the thrill that kids were experiencing, the question was, ‘what is there out there that can engage and delight the children and effectively incorporate the content and context, and be available both remotely and when they return to school’?

That is when we realised that we had the experience to incorporate the currently available technology to provide a solution to this question and ‘Wadudi Edtech’ was born.

‘Wadudi’ is our trademarked business name (a combination of our family name and first name) we believe it reflects who we are and the amazing journey we have been on together over the last 35 years.

With our collective 50 plus years in Early Years Education combined with our passion for igniting that spark in each child’s heart, we are determined to innovate and create a new pedagogy and perspective on early years learning.

Technology is and will continue to influence teaching techniques and learning methods into the future, and as educators, we have a responsibility to be positive and effective change agents. So at Wadudi, we have designed a series of unique language learning apps that will move early learners beyond what is currently available.

At Wadudi EdTech, we are designing educational programs/applications that can improve the opportunities for learning over time by providing the ‘experience’ necessary that engages and captivates young learners at the beginning of their long-term learning. To us as education facilitators, this is efficient learning and effective learning and to the young learners, it is the ‘Joy’ of learning.

We don’t believe in failure; we believe in experiences!

Experiences incorporate all learning styles and facilitate emotionally connected long term memory retention. AR and VR provide a means to discover and explore through interaction and engagement. VR and AR offer the platform for us to create an environment where individual learning can occur.

With software and applications written to include content, the user has the opportunity to engage, explore and learn in their own personal style rather than a teacher-directed style.

The learner can think for themselves and learn by doing and at the same time develop critical thinking skills, consider and employ creative ideas and develop understanding through awareness.

I believe that our children have the potential to shift our current and future questions towards positive outcomes and I believe that it is our responsibility to provide them with the very best tools that we have so that they can address those questions.

With our extensive appreciation of the learning faculties of early years learners, we are designing applications that will maximise the experiential learning opportunities for kids to learn at a pace and to the extent that they are capable.

I believe that we are not appreciating their potential and that we have to step-up and do our job as guardians and facilitators. It has been over 100 years of ‘same old’ education so let’s be the generation that makes a difference so that our kids can use their potential.

As Kahlil Gibran said: “Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself… You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow…”
